Alright so I want to try making a shirt like this but do I have to dip a white shirt in a navy dye or can I take a Navy shirt and bleach the bottom? I’m completely new to the dying game and don’t really know how to achieve this look lol. Thanks

Make sure you soak the whole thing in water first so it’s wet before you dip it. Then the dye will travel up and make a gradient.

Honestly, the navy shirts start out white, so you’d probably get a better look out of like a 1/5 solid bleach and 2/5 watered down bleach

A denim shirt will bleach white, otherwise dye a white shirt blue - loads of youtube tutorials just seach diy ombre top

like the others said, bleaching is a difficult way to go. look up ombre dying - that’s the easiest and cheapest method with some of the best results. I’ve done it myself dozens of times

start with the lightest color. wet the shirt. dip in the end you want to be the darkest and leave it. the web fabric will soak up the dye.

It’s probably a better idea to use a white shirt, because commercial dye doesn’t always bleach white (like black shirts that bleach orange).
